Assault on man for making culprits pay fine for killing hen: Victim dies in hospital

Mysuru: A person, who was assaulted brutally by two youths for making them pay fine for running over a hen on July 7, breathed his last at a private hospital in city yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (40), son of Marigowda and a resident of Bore Anandooru at Yelwal in the taluk.  

It may be recalled that Manjunath had made Puneeth to cough up fine for running over a hen. Puneeth, who wanted to take revenge, brutally assaulted Manjunath along with his (Puneeth) friend Narayan following which Manjunath was admitted to a private hospital with serious injuries, where he breathed his last yesterday.

Yelwal Police, who had registered a case of assault, have registered a case of murder against Puneeth and Narayan, who were arrested within 24 hours of  the incident.

The complaint registered at Yelwal Police Station has the name of Congress leader Ramegowda of Bore Anandooru as the person who had allegedly instigated the assault on Manjunath, leading to his death and the Police have launched a hunt to nab him. Meanwhile, the supporters of Manjunath told media persons this morning that they would stage a protest in front of Yelwal Police Station by keeping the body of Manjunath to seek justice. The body of Manjunath has been shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.

Additional Police forces has been deployed to maintain law and order situation in the village and at the Police Station  surroundings.
