Auto driver assaults passenger, flees with cash, mobile phone

Nanjangud: An auto driver, along with his accomplice, assaulting a passenger travelling in the auto and fleeing with Rs. 11,000 cash and a mobile phone belonging to the passenger has come to light lately in Nanjangud town.

The passenger, who was looted has been identified as Mahesh, a resident of Devarasanahalli village in Nanjangud taluk.

Mahesh, after receiving Rs. 11,000 from his owner as salary in Mysuru, left for Nanjangud and reached the place at about 9 pm from where he boarded an autorickshaw to his native place.

The driver, after taking Mahesh to some distance, stopped the vehicle where another person joined the auto driver and assaulted Mahesh, besides snatching away Rs. 11,000 and a mobile phone from him and leaving him midway. In-charge SI Santosh said that no complaint has been registered in this regard.
