BEML launches cleanliness drive at Brindavan Gardens

Mysuru: The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) senior executives and staff, numbering more than 100, undertook a cleanliness drive at Brindavan Gardens, here yesterday.

BEML Mysore Director (Mining and Construction) B.R. Vishwanath and Executive Engineer of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Basavaraje Gowda launched the cleanliness drive.

The company, in its attempt to bring about awareness among its workmen, had initiated many projects inside its premises since more than ten months and has been successful in bringing some radical changes in its work culture, with management’s continuous and sustained efforts. Further, the Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Deepak Kumar Hota had identified Brindavan Gardens to launch the cleanliness drive.

“BEML would deploy a minimum of 50 persons on any Sunday, once in a month for this  Shramdaan. The cost of transportation of its men, diesel cost, maintenance and repair of equipment used for this job, will be completely borne by BEML. BEML is thinking of organising street plays, which would create awareness among the public during evening times on some Sundays,” said Director Vishwanath in his inaugural address.

Executive Engineer Basavaraje Gowda lauded the efforts of BEML in launching the cleanliness drive at the Gardens.

BEML has handed over 20 plastic dustbins-cum-trolleys at a cost of Rs. 50,000 to the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam. The company is planning to display awareness posters near food junctions, where a lot of garbage is collected.

Narayana were present, according to a press release from BEML’s Nagamangala Narasimha Murthy.
