Direct appointment to Group ‘D’ posts

Mysuru: The Government will make direct appointment to Group ‘D’ posts lying vacant in Social Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare Departments.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, the Backward Classes Welfare Department District Officer G.S. Somashekar said there had been no direct appointments to Group ‘D’ posts since 1998. But now, as per a Government order, direct appointments will be made to 32 posts of Cooking Assistants and 42 posts of night watchmen in Social Welfare Department and 58 posts of cooks and 92 posts of Cooking Assistants in Social Welfare Department, he said.

Continuing, he said the appointments will be made in 1:5 ratio as directed by the Government. The verification of documents of candidates for Cooking Assistant posts in Social Welfare Department will take place on June 21, while that for cooks in Backward Classes Welfare Department will take place on June 22, for Cooking Assistant posts in Backward Classes Welfare Department on June 23 and for night watchmen posts in Social Welfare Department on June 24. The verification of documents will take place at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan on Adipampa road from 9.30am on all the four days, he said. Somashekar further said that the practical exam for cooks will take place from June 28 to 30 at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba road in the city.

A total of 30 teams have been formed for smooth conduct of verification and CC TV cameras and voice recorders will be installed at the verification centre to ensure total transparency in the selection of candidates,  he added. Social Welfare Department Joint Director Prabha was present at the press meet.
