Mysuru: The yet to be inaugurated Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory in K.R. Hospital premises is proving to be a boon to the patients as well as the doctors as they can now get the test reports quickly and the doctors can now provide proper treatment at the right time.

The lab is located in Sri Jayadeva Murugharajendra Pathology Laboratories building.

This is one of the labs being set up as part of the scheme across the country for effective disaster management by the Department of Health Research, Government of India and Indian Council of Medical Research.

Sources said that the lab is conducting ELISA Tests on blood samples referred by the doctors at K.R. Hospital and added that about 30 tests are being conducted at the lab daily.

Sources also said that the laboratory is helping in identifying new and unknown viruses and the patients can now get correct and faster diagnosis for various viral fever cases and with early detection, the spread of virus can be controlled besides patients could be given proper treatment without  wasting much time.
