Form human chain, demand water to canals

Mandya: Demanding water to canals and lakes, about 100 farmers including women, under the aegis of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) laid siege to the office of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam (CNN) near Sanjay Circle here. They also sought stoppage of release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

Earlier to that, the farmers formed a human chain at Sanjay Circle disrupting traffic on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road for 30 minutes. Later they went in a procession to the CNN office and got the office gate closed and locked venting their protest.

Yesterday too the farmers had staged a novel protest at Koppa Circle in Shivapura near Maddur by performing ‘Shirasasana’ at the Circle which had disrupted traffic on the highway for over 30 minutes. The siege at CNN office had continued when we went into press as the officer there wanted the higher-ups to arrive to discuss with the farmers.
