Govt. releases Rs. 40 lakh

The State Government has released Rs. 40 lakh for Biddatanda Cup Hockey Tournament to take place at Napoklu in Kodagu district.

The Hockey Fest Committee which met the Chief Minister recently in Bengaluru had sought Rs. 50 lakh from the Government for staging the tournament which is played between Kodava families. CM Siddharamaiah responding to the plea, has sanctioned Rs. 40 lakh for the tournament.

Kodagu District in-charge Minister M.R. Seetharam, Animal Husbandry Minister A. Manju, MLAs K.G. Bopaiah and Appachhu Ranjan, MLC Shanteyanda Veena Achaiah, Kodava Sahitya Academy President Biddatanda S. Thammaiah, Hockey Namme Samiti President Biddatanda Ramesh   Chengappa, former Media Academy President Maneyapanda Ponnappa, Bellu Ayyappa, Jeevan Cariappa and others were present during the meeting with CM.

It may be  mentioned here that Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh, out of which Rs. 20 lakh has been released.
