H.Y. Meti to be re-inducted into Cabinet?

April 23, 2017

Bengaluru: Former Minister H.Y. Meti, who was forced to quit the Siddharamaiah Cabinet following a sex scam in December last, is likely to be re-inducted into the Cabinet.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, who flew to New Delhi yesterday to take part in the NITI Ayog meeting today, is likely to meet the  Congress High Command and discuss Cabinet expansion, to fill up two vacancies.

Although Siddharamaiah had discussed Cabinet expansion with the party High Command earlier this month, there was not much progress in this regard.

Now, Siddharamaiah who seems to be keen on filling up two vacant berths in  his Cabinet, in order to accommodate his close associate H.Y. Meti and Dr. Geetha Mahadevaprasad, who won the Gundlupet by-poll recently.

The CID, which conducted a probe into the sex scam allegedly involving  H.Y. Meti, is likely to submit its report on Apr. 28, giving a clean chit to the former Minister, according to sources.

H.Y. Meti is likely to get a clean chit just as Minister K.J. George was given the same by the CID in Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy suicide case. Once re-inducted, Meti is likely to get Excise Department, a portfolio which be held earlier. However, it is not known which portfolio will Geetha Mahadevaprasad will get, if she is inducted into the Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Siddharamaiah’s visit to New Delhi in the name of NITI Ayog meeting has assumed significance, as Siddharamaiah had most of the times skipped meetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
