Hoax bomb calls at Mysuru, Mandya Railway Stations

Mysuru/Mandya: Tension prevailed in Mysuru and Mandya Railway Stations yesterday afternoon following an anonymous caller calling up Mandya Railway Station Control Room and informing the personnel there about bombs being placed in Mandya & Mysuru Railway Stations.

As soon the personnel received the call, he informed the Railway authorities, who in turn called up the officials of Mysuru Railway Station and informed the matter.

The Mysuru Railway Police, immediately informed the matter to Mandi Police Station, following which Mandi Inspector Lakshmikanth Talwar and staff rushed to Mysuru Railway Station, besides summoning the Dog Squad and the Bomb Disposal Squad to the spot. The Police personnel then conducted a search for explosives but in vain. As the bomb could not be found despite thorough search for it, the Police came to a conclusion that it was a hoax bomb scare call.

It is learnt that Mandi Police have taken a suspect into custody and are interrogating him.

Meanwhile, a hoax bomb scare call was received at Mandya Railway Station at about 1.30 pm yesterday following which, the Dog Squad and the Bomb Disposal Squad was summoned to the Railway Station, who conducted a thorough search but in vain.

As the Cops could not find any bomb after a thorough search, the came to a conclusion that it was a hoax bomb scare call.

It is learnt that the caller spoke in Kannada and Police have launched a hunt to nab the anonymous caller based on the mobile number they have obtained from the Railway Control Room.
