HUNSUR ASSEMBLY TICKET: Prajwal Revanna’s statement ruffles feathers, party workers unhappy

July 7, 2017

Hunsur: A few JD(S) leaders in Hunsur are not happy with the statements of Prajwal Revanna, the son of former Minister and party leader H.D. Revanna. Prajwal stated yesterday that he was an aspirant for Hunsur Assembly ticket for the 2018 elections.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, H.P. Sathish Kumar, Hunsur City Municipal Council Member, said that the remarks were uncalled for and his words did not have a sanction from the party High Command.

Satish, who is also the member of Planning Committee of Mysuru, said that Prajwal does not understand the ground realities of Hunsur constituency. “He never comes here and does not know party workers. How can he aspire for a ticket,” he questioned.

“For us, H.D. Deve Gowda, H.D. Kumaraswamy, G.T. Devegowda and Chikkamadu are leaders. G.T. Devegowda and his family are with us since years and they have responded to our problems. Prajwal, who has stayed away from Hunsur for so many years, cannot come now to claim the ticket,” he said.

Similar sentiments were also reflected by APMC Member Aswal Kempegowda and JD(S) Hunsur Minority Wing leader Sardar Ahmed. “These statements by Prajwal have pained the leaders and party workers. Prajwal was instigated by some dissidents and he has been brainwashed to speak against the High Command,” they said.

Aswal Kempegowda said that yesterday’s party workers’ meet at Gowramma Puttaswamappa Kalyana Mantap was organised at the behest of party leaders. “Prajwal came here unannounced. He does not realise how popular are G.T. Devegowda and his son G.D. Harish Gowda in Hunsur. They have converted Hunsur into a strong JD(S) fort,” he said.

Sardar Ahmed said that Prajwal has no connect with Hunsur whatsoever. “We will follow what our party supremo says. Prajwal is not our leader. We will convince the High Command to give a chance to loyal party workers who have served the constituency and not for others who come at the last moment aspiring for power,” he said.
