April 5, 2017

Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University (JSS University) that was recently ranked first among young Universities in the Karnataka State University Ranking Framework (KSURF) stands 45th amongst Universities in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

The rankings were released by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Apr. 3. The University has secured the 3rd place in the overall ranking among all Universities in the State.

Speaking to reporters here yesterday, Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS University, said it stands among the top 100 institutions in the country at the 74th rank in the overall rankings. The JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, and the JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, the two constituent colleges of JSS University, were ranked 10th and 17th respectively among the pharmacy colleges in the country, he said.

In the overall rankings including institutions of national importance such as IITs, IIMs, Indian Institute of Science, NIPER, etc., JSS University still stands among the top 100 institutions in the country, standing at the  74th rank.

“The rankings continue to recognise the efforts put by JSS University which was established only in the year 2008. We are an emerging institution in the country adopting best practices and providing quality education that benefits thousands of graduates,” he said.

Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeeta Dr. C.G. Betsurmath said the University would stress upon inclusiveness and research for the good of the society and also to achieve new benchmarks.” The NIRF was established by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development to assess the quality of education in higher and professional educational institutions. The recognition is surely a big encouragement,” he said.

“Among eight institutions of Karnataka that have figured in the top 100 list, JSS University is in the seventh place and among the Universities, it is in the third place. Last year, the JSS University had secured 35th rank,” he said. “In both the rankings, the University and the constituent colleges have continued to excel in teaching and learning process and inclusiveness in its education,” Dr. Betsurmath added.
