MCC withdraws Minister’s Special Officer’s car

May 5, 2017

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) today withdrew the car provided to KAS Officer and District In-charge Minister’s Special Officer Shobha.

The facility was withdrawn following orders from MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha. According to sources, MCC used to spend Rs. 28,000 on the officer’s car rental.

Ever since the car rental scam in MCC came to light recently,  it was found that the elected representatives had been misusing the facility despite there being no provision in the law to provide them cars.

This scam came to light when Nandeesh Preetham, Chairman, Standing Committee on Town Planning and Improvement, told reporters that MCC was paying crores of rupees as car rentals.

However, MCC is yet to withdraw the car facility provided to Opposition Leader, Chairmen and Chairperson of other Standing Committees and few officials.
