‘Namma Hudugi’ Ananya wins Filmfare

Bengaluru: Mysuru girl Ananya Bhat won the Filmfare Award for the Best Playback Singer (female) for her song Namma Kaayo Devane from the Kannada movie Rama Rama Re. The award was presented at the 64th South Filmfare Award function held at Hyderabad on Saturday last  (June 17).

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Ananya said that the award had come as an unexpected joy and she felt stupendous. She credited music director Vasuki Vaibhav, the entire team of Rama Rama Re and her parents, well wishers and her fans. Ananya was nominated among the best playback singers including Shreya Ghoshal, Anuradha Bhat, Indu Nagaraj and Vani Harikrishna.

She has received training from Vid. K. Guruprasad and Vid. R.S. Nandakumar. This talented singer lent her voice as a playback singer when she was just nine-years-old for a movie called Valave Jeevana Lekkachara directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. But, she was recognised as a playback singer from the movie Lucia. Ananya has also sung for movie such as Chaturbhuja, Rocket, Bhujanga and the latest sensation being Rama Rama Re which won her maiden Filmfare.  

Ananya is widely followed on Youtube for her melodious cover songs. In fact, Nee Thoreda song on Youtube.com got as many as 3 million hits. She has also learnt theatrics from Natana School run by actor Mandya Ramesh in city. Ananya is the daughter of well-known astrologer and purohit Vishwanath Bhat and Revati Vishwanath couple.

Meanwhile, Vasishta Simha, another talented actor from Mysuru, won that Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) for the movie Godhi Banna Sadharana Maikattu.
