Nirbhaya case: SC upholds death sentence

New Delhi: Nearly five years after Nirbhaya, a 23-year-old medical student was gang-raped on Dec. 16, 2012 in Delhi, the Supreme Court this afternoon upheld death sentence to four convicts. The Delhi High Court had awarded death to Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh who challenged it in the Supreme Court.

One among the rapists was a minor who was set free after he was sent to a  correction home.
