By-polls: Party bigwigs undertake padayatra in N’Gud and Gundlupet

With the summer temperature rising up in Mysuru, the campaigning at Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies for the upcoming by-polls scheduled on Apr. 9 is also heating up with bigwigs of both BJP and Congress parties hitting the roads on padayatra to seek the support of voters for their respective candidates.

The BJP and Congress, which have taken the by-polls as the prestige issue, are leaving no stone unturned to earn the support of the public ahead of the by-polls.

At first, Kalale in Nanjangud witnessed Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy, visiting each houses individually along with District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa. The leaders offered prayers at Lakshmikantha Temple before heading for campaigning.

Kalale also being the native of Keshavamurthy, a large number of public had gathered at the Temple in support of the candidate.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa requested voters to support Keshavamurthy in the by-polls and help the party create history in Nanjangud.  

MP R. Dhruvanarayan and other local leaders accompanied the party candidate during the campaigning.  

Meanwhile, the BJP, which is trying to conquer the Congress party’s stronghold by fielding former Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad as its candidate, has also been campaigning intensively in the constituency.

Both Congress and BJP have deputed strong Nayaka leaders like Sathish Jharkiholi and Sriramulu to attract Nayaka voters who play a vital role in the elections. MP Shobha Karandlaje also campaigned for BJP candidate at Kalale village.

Congress leaders Former Union Minister K.H. Muniyappa and Prakash Hukkeri also campaigned at various parts of the constituency.

At Gundlupet: State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa visited Chikkathuppur Mutt along with party candidate C.S. Niranjan Kumar and other taluk BJP leaders before hitting the campaign trail. Later, he conducted padayatras at Kodasoge, Karakalamandahalli and other villages.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate M.C. Mohankumari (Geetha Mahadevaprasad) also conducted padayatras at Puttanapura, Angalapura, Angala and other villages along with Block Congress President P.B. Rajashekar and CADA Chairman H.S. Nanjappa.
