Pramoda Devi Wadiyar visits KRS Dam

May 23, 2017

Mandya/Mysuru: Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar visited the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam and Brindavan Gardens yesterday.

Accompanied by late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar’s sister Indrakshi Devi’s daughter Samyukta, Pramoda Devi arrived at the Dam at around 11.30 am. Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) Sub-Inspector Govardhan, who was on duty, saw her arriving at the gate and informed the officials of Cauvery Niravari Nigam Limited.  Nigam’s AEE P. Vasudeva rushed to the gate with Engineer Kishore to welcome the Royal Family members.

Initially, the officials were taken aback as Pramoda Devi had arrived at the Dam without prior intimation. Later, she was taken around the Dam where repair works were going on as well as to the Brindavan Gardens.

Speaking to Star of Mysore here this morning, Pramoda Devi  said, “I visit Brindavan Gardens very often. I love to walk on the bridge. I walked the full length of almost two-and-a-half kilometres and went right down. It was sad to see the depleting water level.”

“A team from Indore is restoring the dam and the engineers and other officials shared the technical details with me. I was curious about the stones that they had gathered. They told me that they had extracted the foundation stones and they would do research on that,” she said and added that she was all praise for the kind of work the experts were undertaking.

Vasudeva told SOM that Pramoda Devi was impressed with the ongoing renovation and development works at the Dam but at the same time expressed concern over the depleting water levels and the plight of farmers.
