‘Vastra Utsav’ at JSS Urban Haat from July 21 to Aug. 6

JSS Mysore Urban Haat of JSS Mahavidyapeetha is organising  “Vastra Utsav -2017” on the occasion of Varamahalakshmi festival at its premises, Plot No. 432, Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru, from July 21 to Aug.6.

More than 60 weavers, societies and master artisans will be participating in the exhibition. The creative producers of textile, handloom and crafts  will exhibit, demonstrate and sell their rich art and crafts like cotton and silk sarees, lehenga choli (skirt and blouse), bandhani (tie & dye), embroidery, plain dyed, printed, beaded, garment dyed, embroidered dress materials, salwar suit, ethnic zari work sarees & dresses,towels, bed spreads , bed sheets, chudidar, clay articles, patch work, bead work, terracotta, warli painting, eco-friendly jewellery items etc.

The Utsav, to be held between 10 am and 9 pm everyday, will be inaugurated by R. Girish, Commissioner for Textile Development & Director of Handlooms & Textiles, Bengaluru, on July 21 (Friday) at 4 pm. Dr. C. G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, will preside. Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director, JSS Technical Education Division, B.R.Umakant, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division, Jagadeesh, Joint Director, Industries and Commerce Department, Bengaluru, Journalist Vishveshwara Bhat  and Sashidhar, Assistant Director, Handicrafts Marketing & Service Centre, will be the chief guests. Bus No.117/1 facility will be available from Mysuru city bus stand to JSS Mysore Urban Haat.
