Mysuru: A conwoman disguising as a beggar robbed Rs. 20,000 cash and a mobile phone kept inside the bedroom of a house at Yadavagiri yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at the house of Anup Franklin, a resident of Second Main Road. According to the Police, Anup had not locked the main door of his house and had gone to the bathroom to shower. Anup’s father was in the hall and was listening to music.

At around 9.10 am, two beggar women ventured inside the compound of the house and one of them entered the house. The other woman was inside the compound holding a small child. After entering the house, the woman managed to dodge Anup’s father and headed straight to the bedroom to steal the cash and the mobile phone. Anup later found that the cash and the phone missing.

When he scanned the CCTV footage, he found the woman entering his house and stealing the valuables. He later lodged a complaint with V.V. Puram Police.

The Police are now suspecting the role of an organised gang that is targeting unlocked houses.

They are suspecting the role of the same gang that had fed pesticide to an elderly lady in the guise of looking for a rented accommodation at Vontikoppal.

It may be recalled here that 75-year-old Jayamma was forcibly fed with pesticide by some criminals who had come to her house asking for rented accommodation at Vontikoppal 3rd Cross in March this year.

Jayamma was the mother of late Venkatesh (Pinto), who was the President of Mukhyaprana Vedike. Jayamma died later after battling for life at a hospital. This case still remains unsolved.
