Women thieves arrested

Mysuru: Devaraja Police have arrested three women on charges of stealing gold ornaments and silver articles from jewellery shops in city.

The women were arrested on Vinoba Road while they were trying to sell the same on Aug. 13.

The arrested have been identified as 40-year-old Sathyamma, 30-year-old Sumithra and 30-year-old Naagu, all residents of Kuri Mandi in Kesare here.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of stealing gold and silver ornaments and articles from various jewellery stores in city in guise of customers and also lifting cell phones in bus stands.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 450 grams silver articles, five grams gold ornaments and four cell phones, worth Rs. 85,000, from them.

DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and Devaraja ACP Rajashekar supervised Devaraja Inspector Thimmaraju, SI Lepaksha and staff Shadakshari, Anjaneya, Nandeesh, R. Rathnamma and Chandrika in the nabbing and recovery operation.
