Yoga has improved health of HIV+ children, claims Ramdas

Mysuru: Former Minister S.A. Ramdas, who is also the founder of the city based ‘Amma Mane,’ a residential home for HIV positive children, has said that as many as 12 HIV positive children at the home have shown significant improvement in their health with the intervention of Yoga, Agnihotri, Suryapana and Ayurveda. Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, Ramdas said that within two years, the children’s CD4 Courts have increased and the viral loads and opportunity infections have come down drastically.

Pointing out that the children, who could not even walk or cycle to school, have now been able to do yoga and suryapana at ease following two years of intervention, he said their immunity levels have improved and it has also made them emotionally stable.

Noting that out of 12 children, the viral loads of four are less than 150 for which there is no equipment in the country for detection, the  former Minister said that their blood samples will be sent to the US for tests. He urged the Government to try the intervention of Indian system on all HIV-affected   persons.
