Mysuru: Depressed over frequent harassment by higher officials, a KSRTC driver-cum-conductor has reportedly attempted suicide by consuming excess tablets at the KSRTC Rural Depot at Bannimantap here on Friday.
The driver-cum-conductor, who attempted suicide, is Basavaraju, a resident of Rajendranagar in city.
In his statement, Basavaraju has stated that while he was coming from Madikeri to Mysuru, ticket-checking officials boarded the bus and after examining the tickets of the passengers, the officials got his signature and told him that there was no case.
Basavaraju has further stated that when the ticket-checking officials alighted from the bus near Yelwal, they informed him that there were four cases and alleged that this was not the first time the officials were harassing him. He alleged that despite requesting the officials not to depute him to far places as his health was not good, the officials deliberately depute him to far places and depressed over frequent harassment, Basavaraju attempted suicide at the depot after informing his family members over the phone.
Basavaraju has been admitted to a private hospital and N.R. Police have registered a case.
