May 31, 2017

Future remains bleak for Joshi, Advani, Bharti and nine other accused

Lucknow: A CBI Special Court granted bail to former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti and other accused on personal bond of Rs. 50,000 each, in Babri Masjid demolition case yesterday.

All the three leaders appeared before the Court for framing of charges of criminal conspiracy in the case. Judge S.K. Yadav had said on May 26 that no application for an adjournment or exemption from personal appearance would be entertained.

The first one to reach the Court premises was Shiv Sena leader Satish Pradhan, followed by Advani, Joshi and Bharti. Sadhvi Ritambhara, Vinay Katiyar, Ram Vilas Vedanti and Mahant Gopal Das also reached the Court premises separately.

Earlier to appearing before the Court, Uma Bharti said that she had already made it clear that there was no conspiracy in bringing down the Babri Masjid in December 1992 and that it was an act in anger by the mob.

The Court, which is hearing two cases relating to the demolition of the Masjid, would also frame charges against Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Mahant Ram Vilas Vedanti, Baikunth Lal Sharma alias Prem Ji, Champat Rai Bansal, Mahant Dharma Das, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya and  Satish Pradhan.
