BJP demands cancellation of MCC Ward reservation matrix

July 29, 2018

Mysuru:  Alleging that the MCC Ward reservation matrix list announced by the Government has rendered grave injustice to women and Dalits, the BJP has demanded its scrapping.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, City BJP Vice-President V. Somasundar said that the reservation announced by the Government was unscientific.

Maintaining that the rule for reserving 18 percent seats for Dalits and 50 percent for women has not been followed in the list, he accused the JD(S)-Congress coalition Government of snatching away the Constitutional rights of Dalits and women.

Claiming that only 15.33 percent of the seats have been reserved for SC community, while the Constitutional mandation was 18 percent, Somasundar said that women too have been rendered injustice with only 47.69 percent reservation as against 50 percent.

Accusing the Government of illogical reservation of MCC Wards, he urged the Government to come up with a new matrix that accords reservation as per the Constitutional provisions.

BJP SC Morcha office-bearers Nagaraj, Anandaraj,Murali, Sharath, Shivakumar were present during the press meet.
