Children’s Theatre Festival in city from Jan. 5

Mysuru: Sanchalana Mysuru will be conducting a five-day children’s theatre festival for the first time in Mysuru from Jan. 5 to 9.

The theatre group has invited various groups from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar to stage plays during the festival.

The plays will be staged at Mini Rangamandira located in Kalamandira Premises every day at 6.30 pm.

Entry is free for public. The inauguration of the festival will be held on Jan. 5 at 6.30 pm.

Former Rangayana Director Chidambara Rao Jambe, MLA G.T. Devegowda, Karnataka Balavikasa Academy Project Officer Mallikarjuna Maliger, DDPI Manjula and Niranthara Foundation’s Prasad Kundur will be present.

The valedictory event on Jan. 9 will witness the presence  of MLA Vasu, MyLac Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, BEO (South Zone) K.S. Prakash,  Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa and Niranthara Foundation’s  M.M. Suguna.

Jan. 5: Staging of the play Madhyamavyayoga, originally written by Bhasa, by the students of Daisy Convent. Translated to Kannada by L. Gundappa, Design: Jeevan Kumar B. Heggodu, Music: Prashanth Madarasakoppa, Set Design/Costumes: Viddu Uttil, Assistant Director: Praveen Belli, Director: Deepak Mysuru.

Jan. 6: Staging of play Punyakoti by students of Kukkarahalli Government High School. Design: Jeevan Kumar B. Heggodu, Set Design/Make-up Manjunath and Director: Yogesh.

Jan. 7: Bharatanataya recital by Kumari Shreya Mahesh of Bengaluru followed by ‘Sri Krishna Parijata’, Yakshagana performance by the students of Yakshakala Academy, Bengaluru. Directed by K. Krishnamurthy Tunga.

Jan. 8: Staging of play ‘Hakki Habba’ by students of Dheenabandu School, Chamarajanagar. Written and Directed by N.S. Prajna.

Staging of play ‘Billa Habba’ by students of Kukkarahalli Government High School. Written by H.S. Venkatesh Murthy, Director: S. Sheela.

Jan. 9: Staging of play ‘Dham Dhoom Suntaragaali’ based on Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ by students of Natana Mysuru. Adaptation: Vydehi, Director: Jeevan Ram Sullia.
