CM launches Kaushalya Karnataka Scheme in Bengaluru

May 15, 2017

Mysuru/Bengaluru: The ambitious programme of creating one lakh jobs by reaching out to unemployed youths under the “Demand Survey and Enrollment of Unemployed Youth,” as part of Kaushalya Karnataka Scheme, was launched by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in Bengaluru and all districts in the State, including Mysuru, here this morning.

Brand ambassador and actor Puneeth Rajkumar, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) Chairman Muralidhar Halappa and Speaker K.B. Koliwad were present at the inauguration in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, MLA Vasu inaugurating the programme at the Platinum Jubilee auditorium in JK Grounds here said that this is a programme, which will help youth in the age group of 18-30 to enroll for jobs depending on their required skill sets.

A massive job fair will be   organised after Kannada Rajyotsava and Dasara celebrations. However, the aim of the youths should not only be to seek jobs but also to  become entrepreneurs and create jobs, he said.

The aim of such camps is to create awareness among the unemployed youths to acquire skill sets depending upon their qualification and skills as they do not have any idea or direction in how to go about applying for jobs, said Vasu.

The first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru, as part of Five Year Plans, had set up public sector companies like HMT, HAL, BEL, thus creating jobs in the initial years after independence. Many doctors and engineers from Karnataka have been in great demand in the US and other foreign countries.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shivashanker in his inaugural address said, “the aim of the Chief Minister is to create five lakh jobs. Out of which 25 per cent is reserved for SCs, 7 per cent for STs,  3 per cent for physically challenged and 33 per cent for women,” he said.

There will be two vahinis launched as part of job creation. Vahini 1 will be launched by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, Government of Karnataka and Vahini 2 which will be launched by the other departments to help create and provide jobs, he said.

Nearly 800 youth were present at the camp. Four counters were opened to enable them to enrol. However, because of the huge load on the computers, the servers were down and many were waiting to enrol their names.

There will be two categories, the literates and the illiterates who can enrol. Their names, address, email id, mobile numbers will be registered and the  department will collate this information.

Earlier, the apprentices were given a stipend between Rs 1500 to Rs 1000. However, now they will be paid a salary, said the official and added that the aspirants can register online on www.kaushalkar.com

Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep, Corporation Commissioner D. Jagadeesha, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Employment Officer Vishwanath  Bharani, ZP Planning Officer Prabhuswamy, Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu, Food and Civil Supplies Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) H.R. Basappa and others were present.
