The Dasara Open chess tournament conducted by Mysore District Chess Association (MDCA) under the aegis of UKCA, DYES and the District Administration, got off to a colourful start at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here today.
The two-day event which saw around 300 chess players from all over the State take part was inaugurated by Karnataka’s first Grand Master M.S. Thejkumar by moving the chess pawns in the chess board along with Dr. C. Krishna, Retd. Director, Department of Physical Education, UoM, was the other guest. Also present were Suresh, Assistant Director, DYES, Jitender Shetty, Nodal Officer, Dasara CM Cup 2018 from DYES, Subash Chandra, DYES, N. Sudharshana, President, MDCA and K.R. Shivarame Gowda, Hon. Secretary, MDCA.
Events are being held in the U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15 (boys & girls) and Open section. First three prizes in the age category and for the Open section will be given to the winners.
