Mysuru: “Littérateur Dr. Basavaraj was able to analyse Vachana Sahitya through a different angle,” said Kannada Development Authority former Chairman Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah.
He was speaking at the valedictory of the National Seminar organised as part of L. Basavaraj birth centenary celebrations organised by Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Centenary Celebration Committee on Oct.19 at B.M. Sri auditorium in Manasagangothri here.
Prof. Siddaramaiah said that Basavaraj had served as a researcher and lecturer at University of Mysore and was very firm in analysing any literary work.
He appreciated the precision of Basavaraj in poems giving full details. He opined that Prasaranga was vital for a University to record the footprints of the Varsity and pass it on for the next generation but regretted that Prasaranga was not that active now.
Writer Prof. Kalegowda Nagavara spoke on his association with Basavaraj who was his teacher.
Littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK), KIKS Director Prof. Nilagiri M. Talwar, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, Columnist Gubbigudu Ramesh and others were present.
