An excellent spell of medium-pace bowling by Bavesh Gulecha (five for 53) enabled KSCA President’s XI to bowl out Madhya Pradesh CA for 202 in their first innings in the four-day Group ‘D’ League encounter in the Dr. Capt. K. Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament 2019, played at JSS-SJCE Grounds here yesterday.
Opting to bat first, Madhya Pradesh CA were restricted to 202 in 65 overs, by KSCA President’s XI.
Nama Ojha 93 (136b, 14×4, 3×6) and Shubham Sharma 71 (136b, 8×4) added 115-runs for the fifth wicket to bring some respectability to the team’s total.
Medium-pacer Bhavesh Gulecha bowled an inspiring spell to take five for 53. He was well-supported by Ritesh Bhatkal who took two for 43.
In reply, KSCA President’s XI were eight for one in 6.3 overs. Shishir Bhavane (5 n.o.) and Mir Kaunain Abbas (0 n.o.) were at the crease at stumps on day one.
Andhra CA well-placed
In another Group-D tie at PET (Mandya), Andhra Pradesh CA put into bat by Jharkhand State CA scored 222 for 3 in 69.3 overs.
C.R. Ganeshwar 65 (13×4), Jyothi Sai Krishna 72 (7×4, 1×6) and Ricky Bhui (73 n.o., 10×4) batted well and boosted their team’s total.
Jyothi Sai Krishna (72) and C.R. Ganeshwar (65) added 90-runs for the second wicket and also added 114-runs for the third wicket with Ricky Bhui (73 n.o.).
