Mysuru: A 22-year-old Engineering student of a college in city, was killed on the spot, when a lorry ran over him on Mysuru-Hunsur Road near Yelwal on Monday.
The deceased student is Yashwanth Kumar, son of Mahadevu and a resident of Nilangala village near Bettadapura in Periyapatna taluk.
Yashwanth, who had been to his native place, was returning to Mysuru on his Honda Shine bike (KA-45 X-9420) when the bike brushed against the road divider near the petrol bunk close to Yelwal, resulting in Yashwanth falling down from the bike.
Meanwhile, a lorry (KA-11 350), which was coming from behind ran over him, resulting in Yashwanth being killed on the spot, according to Yelwal Police, who have registered a case.
But sources said that a lorry which was coming from behind allegedly touched the bike on which Yashwanth was riding resulting in him falling down and the rear wheels of the lorry ran over him killing him on the spot.
Yelwal Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
