Mysuru: In recent months, the residents of J.P. Nagar had sent complaints to South Western Railway (SWR) administration regarding encroachment on Railway land at Km.06/5-8 between Ashokapuram-Nanjangud Railway Station, opposite the under-construction Kamakshi Hospital, J.P. Nagar 1st Stage D-Block.
The complainants had stated that as a result of encroachment in J.P. Nagar area adjacent to Ashokapuram Railway Station, the approach road to the Station had become narrow rendering it difficult for the rail-users and residents to move about freely and causing nuisance.
The Divisional authorities, acting upon the complaint on 17.12.2018 by forming a team of Railway Engineers and Railway Protection Force, cleared the encroachment by demolishing 11 unauthorised temporary structures erected on Railway land, including vegetable stalls, hotels, miscellaneous stalls and push trolleys.
They also warned of stern action against encroachment on Railway land, according to a press release from Dr. S.G. Yatish, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO, SWR, Mysuru Division.
