Mysuru: The new Toyota Innova SUV of former MLA M.K. Somashekar, which was given to service at a showroom in Koorgalli on KRS Road in city has been stolen about a week ago.
Somashekar had purchased the new Toyota Innova (Top end model) about 15 days ago in the name of his wife Kusuma. As the vehicle had run about 1,000 kms, he (Somashekar) had sent the vehicle along with his driver to the showroom for the first service.
The driver, after reaching the showroom, handed over the keys of the vehicle to the staff and had come back. When he went in the evening to collect the vehicle, the driver did not find the vehicle and when he enquired with the Service Station Manager, the driver came to know that none of the staff knew about the vehicle. When the staff went through the CCTV footage, they saw two people standing near the vehicle and later driving away with it.
As the news of the new vehicle with only temporary registration being stolen reached Somashekar, he immediately lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station.
Vijayanagar Police, who registered a case in this regard and verified the CCTV footages, have launched a hunt to trace the vehicle through the engine and chassis number. Meanwhile, M.K. Somashekar said that the vehicle was purchased 15 days ago and he had left it for service at the showroom from where it has been stolen and added that he had lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station in this regard.
