Mysuru: Chinese Guasa Therapy training programme was conducted at Jain Chikitsalay, a unit of Sri Sthanakvasi Jain Yuva Sangthana, Mysuru, on Thyagaraja Road, near Sai Baba Temple in city recently.
Trainer K.G. Gururaj, who imparted a three-hour training on Guasa Therapy, said that Guasa was capable of detoxifying and maintaining health as well as curing various chronic diseases. In gua sha, a technician scrapes your skin with short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow. They make these strokes with a smooth-edged instrument known as a gua massage tool. The technician applies massage oil to your skin, and then uses the tool to repeatedly scrape your skin in a downward motion.
Describing Guasa as a 3rd century BC therapy, he said that kings and soldiers used gold coin for guasa therapy which has no side effects and cures the systemic diseases in just few sessions.
