Mysuru: Special pujas, rituals and spiritual activities marked Guru Purnima celebration at temples across city this morning.
Homas, havans and other rituals were performed at almost all temples including Shirdi Sai Mandiras, Raghavendra Mutts, Ganapathi Temples and others.
Homas, bhajans and other spiritual activities marked the celebration at Shirdi Sai Sevasharama Trust near Mayura Circle in Hebbal, Raghavendra Mutt near Shantala Theatre on N.S. Road, Shirdi Sai Baba temple near Shantala Theatre on N.S. Road, Shridi Sai Baba Temple near Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad, Raghavendra Mutt in Jayalakshmipuram, Prasanna Sai Mandir on Thyagaraja Road, Agrahara, Ram Mandir in K.R. Hospital road in Vokkalageri, Jnana Kendra in Lakshmipuram and Uttaradi Mutt in Khille Mohalla.
Guru Purnima is a spiritual tradition in Hindu religion dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. It is celebrated as a festival on the Full Moon Day (Purnima) in the month of Ashada (June-July) as it is known in the Hindu calendar.
At Ramakrishna Ashrama in Yadavagiri the celebration began as early at 5.15 am with the performance of Narayanasuktam and Acharyopadesha.
Homas and Special pujas were performed at Ganapathi Sachchidananda Ashrama on Nanjangud road. Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji delivered ‘Anugraha Bhashana’ to the devotees on the occasion. Later in the day, Musician vidwan Aralumallige Parthasarathy will be conferred ‘Ganapathi Sachchidananda award’.
