Hygiene School Campaign by Schevaran concludes

Mysuru:  Schevaran Innovation Centre, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru, conducted the valedictory of their Hygiene School Campaign at Government Higher Primary School in Tilak Nagar here recently.  

Since the last two years, Schevaran Innovation Centre (SIC) has been conducting cleanliness and hygiene campaigns for schoolchildren in Mysuru at three schools covering about 500 students. Research Associates Hema and Vinutha visit the schools once a month and teach the students about maintaining cleanliness and personal hygiene through talks, demonstrations and posters.

In addition to teaching, a personal hygiene kit containing bath soap, a detergent cake, tooth paste and brush, nail cutter and hand-wash liquid is given to the students. The consumables of the kit are replenished periodically throughout the year. At the end of the year, three students from each school are selected for Best Student Award based on their understanding and maintaining personal hygiene. The selected students are awarded with prizes.

Dr. T.N. Bhavanishankar, Director, SIC, told the students that they are the future of nation. “The Central government is carrying out Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. We all should actively participate in this Abhiyan and make our country cleaner. We should take oath that we will not litter our surroundings and use designated trash bins,” he said.

He interacted with students to elicit their understanding of cleanliness and hygiene. He also told them that the programme will continue next year also and more schools will be covered.  Head Mistress of the school, Jayamma welcomed the gathering.
