Mysore/Mysuru: Continuing its service to the society, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), Mysuru, donated ‘Zeiss operating microscope Lumera’, a modern ophthalmic equipment, to the Ophthalmology Department of K.R. Hospital in city yesterday.
Adichunchanagiri University Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. Chandrashekar Shetty handed over the equipment to the Hospital authorities at a simple function organised in K.R. Hospital premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chandrashekar Shetty said that the equipment costing Rs. 26 lakh will be of much help to patients who undergo surgeries for eye nerve disorder.
Stating that Lions Club has provided grants for the research being carried out by ophthalmologists Dr. Raghavendra, Dr. Subrata S. Hegde, Dr.Madhuri Parande, Dr. Sandhya Diwakar and Dr. P. Kamalakar at various Institutes, he lauded the efforts of the MMC&RI in upgrading the infrastructure at K.R. Hospital.
Pointing out that LCIF has planned to construct a modern operating theatre, a seminar hall and an ultra-modern eye-testing facility at the Ophthalmology Department of K.R. Hospital at a cost of about Rs. 2.15 crore, he said that the Government too has provided more than 10 ophthalmogical equipment to the Hospital.
