Mysuru: An interactive session with faculty and students from Los Angeles, United States, was organised on ‘Collaborative Studies and Research’ in St. Philomena’s College Post Graduate Centre recently.
Msgr. Fr. Leslie Moras, Episcopal Vicar, Mysore Diocesan Education Society (MDES), spoke about the history of St. Philomena’s College and its legacy. He told that the college has rich diversity as students from around 30 countries choose this college to get education.
Dr. Manju Reddy, Arodhum International Organisation, a non-profit organisation, briefed about the aims and objectives of Arodhum and also explained in detail about the healthcare projects that can be taken up in mutual collaboration. Such collaborative studies give a clear picture about the need of rural children.
Dr. Ramani Durvasula, Faculty, Health Psychology, California State University, spoke about health psychology and its recent trends and also briefed about her University. She stressed on the need of everybody being concerned about the well-being of the society.
Prof. Lawrence Surendra spoke about equity and excellence in higher education and how to use resources to achieve this goal.
Dr. Ruth Shantha Kumari, Principal of St. Philomena’s College, opened the session for interaction with her inputs about the topic. Students interacted with the delegates about the education pattern, curriculum and possibility of collaborative research.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector, Dr. Kaveri Subramanya, Chair of Child and Family Studies, Ronald Prakash Cutinha, IQAC Co-ordinator, students from Los Angeles, faculty and students from St. Philomena’s College were present in the session.
