LS polls: Today last day for withdrawal of nominations

Mysore/Mysuru: Today (Apr. 8) is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, including Mysuru-Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Mandya Constituencies, which are going to the polls on Apr. 26.

In Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency, 28 candidates had filed their nomination papers before the deadline ended on Apr. 4.

However, the nomination papers of 4 candidates were rejected on various grounds when the scrutiny was taken up on Apr. 5, leaving the Constituency with 24 candidates including those from Congress, BJP-JD(S) coalition and other parties as well as a good number of independents.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till 3 pm today, following which the candidates who remain in the fray in the 14 seats going to the polls on Apr. 26 — Mysuru-Kodagu, Hassan, Chamarajanagar (SC), Mandya, Bangalore South, Bangalore Central, Bangalore North, Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar (SC), Tumkur, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikkamagalur and Chitradurga (SC) — will be known. 

The 14 other seats in Karnataka will go to the polls on May 7. These Constituencies are  Haveri, Dharwad, Belgaum, Chikkodi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Davangere, Shivamogga, Ballari, Koppal, Raichur, Gulbarga and Bidar.
