July 22, 2018

Nanjangud:  In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old man was killed at Alaganchi village in the taluk on Friday night for alleged failure to repay Rs.1,000 loan.

Basavaraj (30) of Alaganchi is the victim. Basavaraj is said to have borrowed Rs.1,000 from one Ganesh Nayaka of the village a year ago. Basavaraj had reportedly failed to repay the loan along with interest.

Enraged by Basavaraj’s indifferent attitude towards repayment of loan, Ganesh Nayaka is said to have visited Basavaraj’s house on Friday night and took him (Basavaraj) to a place close to the village temple and assaulted him.

Basavaraj, who suffered serious injuries in the assault, died en route to the hospital. Following Basavaraj’s death, the accused Ganesh Nayaka has gone missing. The Biligere Police have registered a case in this regard.
