Mysuru: The Third Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a man on May 3, 2012 in Nanjangud. The person who has been sentenced for life has been identified as Mahadevaprasad.
On May 3, 2012, Mahadevaprasad had asked for a beedi from one Murali at the Nestle factory gate during which a fight broke out between them.
On the same day, when Murali finished his work and was returning home, Mahadevaprasad along with his friends Dharmendra, Avinash and Anand attacked Murali with lethal weapons and also attacked Santosh Kumar and Prakash with knives when they tried to break the fight resulting in serious injuries to them following which Santosh Kumar succumbed to injuries.
Nanjangud Police, who had registered a case in this regard, conducted investigation and submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.
Judge S. Surendranath, who heard the arguments, found Mahadevaprasad guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs.12,000 and ordering to pay Rs.10,000 out of the fine to Santosh Kumar’s mother Kalavathi as compensation. Public Prosecutor Vasanthi M. Angadi argued for the Government.
