Mysuru/Mysore: City’s 7th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of murdering a woman for money.
Nanjunda Nayaka, a resident of Hosakote village in Nanjangud taluk is the convict. He had murdered Revamma, a widow residing in the same village with a wooden log on Mar. 28, 2016 and a case was registered at Badanavalu Police Station.
Deceased Revamma was married to Venkataramana Nayaka of the village. He had passed away, three months after his marriage following which Revamma was staying with her brother.
Accused Nanjunda Nayaka, who had an illicit relationship with Revamma, used to demand money from her to purchase a two-wheeler, besides torturing her physically and mentally.
On Mar. 28, 2016 at about 6 pm, Nanjunda Nayaka came to the field where Revamma was working, asked her for money, picked up a fight and hit her on the head with a wooden log and killed her.
Badanavalu Police, who registered a case under IPC Section 302, conducted investigation and submitted a charge-sheet to the Court. Judge Saraswathi Kausamdar, who heard the arguments from both sides found accused Nanjunda Nayaka guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000 on him. Public Prosecutor H.D. Anandkumar argued on behalf of the Government.
