Mysore/Mysuru: Marking International Nurses Day-2022, hundreds of nursing students and staff of Nursing Colleges took out a marathon run in city recently. The Nurses Day is celebrated across the world on May 12, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
The marathon, organised under the aegis of JSS Hospital, JSS Nursing College and JSS School of Nursing, commenced from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate after it was flagged off by SP R. Chethan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chethan said that nurses too play a crucial role in the recovery of patients. Stating that the nursing community is working for maintaining community health, he said that nursing is a caring profession, which needs both patience and prominence.
Stressing on the need for doing physical exercises for maintenance of both physical and mental health, the SP said that it is also key for maintaining the health of the society as a whole.
The marathon passed through Silver Jubilee Clock Tower, Dufferin Clock Tower, Old Santhepet and B.N. Road, before culminating at the starting point.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Medical Education Director R. Mahesh, JSS Nursing College Principal Ashwathidevi, JSS School of Nursing Principal Renukadevi, JSS Hospital Nursing Head Janet, faculty Sunil Kumar and others were present.
