Nanjangud: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Minister K.S. Eshwarappa on Saturday visited Drinking Water Supply Station near Mahadevanagara in the taluk.
Eshwarappa’s visit comes following an appeal made by Nanjangud MLA B. Harshavardhan, who had complained about poor quality of works and broken water supply pipelines, which had resulted in wastage of enormous quantity of precious potable water.
Speaking to presspersons after inspecting the Station, Eshwarappa said that he has directed the officials to prepare an estimate for laying of Steel pipes by July 15. Once the estimate is submitted, the Department will initiate the tender process for the execution of works, he said and assured that the Department will find a permanent solution to the drinking water woes of the 52 villages that are covered under the project.
He further said that a probe will be ordered into the alleged poor quality of works and action will be initiated against those found guilty. MLA B. Harshavardhan too spoke. Kollegal MLA N. Mahesh, Nanjangud Taluk Panchayat President B.S. Mahadevappa, Members Shivanna, B.S. Ramu and Mahadeva Nayaka, Taluk BJP President Mahesh and others were present.
