Music and dance at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha on Dec.27, 28

Mysuru: Sri Krishna Gana Sabha has organised a dance and music programme on  Dec.27 and 28 at Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam at 6 pm.

Dec.27: Dance programme  by Vidu. Mitra Naveen and her disciples of Nada Vidyalaya, Hebbal (sponsored by S.K. Sabha in association with  Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru).

Dec.28: Music  concert by Vidu. Anjana P. Rao. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Veena Suresh on violin, H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and M.R. Manjunath on ghata (concert is sponsored by Dr. M. Susheela Urs).

Artistes’ Profile

Mitra Naveen is a disciple of Gurus Vidu. Krishnaveni, Dr. Kripa Phadke and  Prof. K. Murulidhara Rao. She is married to Vid. Andagar Naveen, a reputed vocalist.

They have founded ‘Nada Vidylaya Academy of Music and Dance’ providing  training in Karnatak Music and Bharatanatyam to hundreds of students.

Mitra Naveen is a Master’s Degree holder in Arts and  Bharatanatyam. She is a Graded artiste of Doordarshan and a Vidwat Degree holder in Dance.

She has conceptualised and choreographed Srikrishna Vilasa, Maheshwara Vaibhava, Purandara Dasamrutha, Devi Vaibhava, Geethamruthasara and many other features.

Mitra is the recipient of Kalpashree, Sarvashri and Natya Saraswathi titles.

Anjana P. Rao hails from Shivamogga and is now settled in Benagluru.

She started learning Karnatak Music from the tender age of four under the tutelage of  Vid. H.S. Nagaraj and later by Vid. Maruthi Prasad. Currently, she is guided by Dr. T.S. Satyavathy. At the age of eight, she started giving public performances. Anjana was awarded ‘Yuva Prathibe (2011-12)’ by Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru and ‘Ananya Nadajyothi Prathiba Puraskar (2014).’
