Mysuru: The Women and Child Welfare Department on Friday distributed varieties of nutritious food to the children of Mahouts and Kavadis, who have accompanied the Dasara elephants. The children are aged between six months and three years.
It may be recalled that a Tent School has also been set up for the children apart from providing library facilities. The nutritious food to 20 children for a month include 8 kg rice, payasa rice, Nandini milk powder, sugar, jaggery, palm oil, pulses, green chillies, mustard seeds and salt. In all, 16 types of food articles were provided to the families of the Mahouts and Kavadis.
Tent School teacher Noor Fathima distributed the food items to the children.
