Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be presenting Navarathri Krithis of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal during the ensuing Dasara from Oct. 7 to 15, daily at 10.30 am on its YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Swathi Thirunal, the Maharaja of Travancore, was a patron of classical music and brilliant composer. A contemporary of music trinity, he has over 400 classical compositions to his credit both in Karnatak and Hindustani style. Among the nine compositions specified for each day, the first three are in praise of Goddess Saraswathi, the next three on Lakshmi and the last three on Parvathi.
Senior music gurus of Mysuru, Vidushis Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, Dr. R.N. Sreelatha and Koviladi R. Kala, along with their disciples, have rendered the Krithis. Prithvi Bhaskar and Vid. Sai Shivu Lakshmi Keshav have accompanied on violin and mridanga respectively.
