Paresh Mesta killing: BJP demands NIA probe

Yuva Morcha stages protest

Mysuru: Alleging that 21 activists of various Hindu outfits have been killed in the past few years, the BJP has demanded a NIA or CBI probe into the killings.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath said that Hindu activists were being targeted by anti-national outfits ever since the Congress came to power in the State four-and-a-half-years ago.

Accusing the Congress Government of doing little to nab the culprits, he said that the Government should order a NIA or CBI probe into the killings in order to unearth the truth.

Alleging that Hindu activist Paresh Mesta was kidnapped and murdered in Honnavar, Dr. Manjunath alleged that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has not issued a statement about Paresh’s death. Holding Police negligence as responsible for Paresh’s death, he demanded that organisations such as Popular Front of India (PFA) be banned.

Accusing the Congress of vote bank politics, he claimed that following the killings, the Hindus have been living in a state of insecurity. He further alleged that the Government was attempting to cover up Paresh Mesta’s death by tampering the post-mortem report.

BJP leaders H.V. Rajeev, M.P. Rajesh, Satish, Phanish, Prabhakar Shinde, Mahesh Raje Urs, J. Jayanth and others were present during the press meet.

Yuva Morcha stages demo

Seeking NIA probe into the killing of Hindu activists, BJP Yuva Morcha staged a demonstration at Agrahara Circle in city yesterday. The protesters who brought a buffalo along with them, alleged that more than 20 Hindu activists from across the State have been murdered in the past few years. But the ruling Congress had failed to nab the killers in most of the cases, they alleged. Accusing the Government of trying to tamper slain  Paresh Mesta’s post-mortem report, they alleged that the Govt. was protecting the killers.

Questioning the ‘so-called intellectuals’ silence over the killing of Paresh, they demanded appropriate compensation to the family of the deceased.
