Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that they have been dispensing medicines without any interruption even after the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic last year, the Mysuru City and District Retail Pharmacists Association has appealed the Government to consider them too as ‘Corona Warriors’ as they work under risk.
In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Monday, the Association said that pharmacy staff are always exposed to risk as they maintain close contact with customers without bothering to check their (customer) health.
Maintaining that several Pharmacy staff fell victims to the deadly virus last year, the Association said that this year too many staff have contracted the virus.
In this backdrop, the Government should consider them as ‘Corona Warriors’ taking into account the risk they are exposed to. Also the Government must prioritise vaccination of Pharmacists in the ongoing vaccination drive, it said.
Association Secretary C.K. Arun, Treasurer Mansoor Khan and others were present.
