Hundreds of people from all ages took part in ‘Run for Jawans’ marathon organised by NIE-IT in memory of martyred jawans, in city yesterday. The marathon was held as part of two-day IgNIEIT-2K19 Fest to take place on Mar.22 and 23.
Lt. Colonel (retd.) Srikar Prabhu flagged off the marathon in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate.
The marathon passed through Big Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, D. Deveraj Urs Road and other prominent roads, before returning to the starting point.
The College Principal Prof. N.V. Archana, IgNIEIT-2K19 Convenors Lokesh, Prasanna Kumar and others were present.
RESULTS
Men’s Section (6 km): H.D. Lakshman – 1st prize; Bella Nayak – 2nd and H.D. Rama – 3rd.
Women’s Section (4 km): G. Disha – 1st, Poorvika – 2nd and Shravana of Srirangapatna – 3rd.
Elderly Men’s Section (4 km): S.M. Harish – 1st, M. Yogendra – 2nd and Nagesh – 3rd.
In the Elderly Women’s Section, B.K. Veena was the lone contestant and she was declared the winner.
The first prize carried a cash reward of Rs.2,000, 2nd prize Rs.1,500 and 3rd prize Rs.500.
