The Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry (UG) of St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, have jointly organised a one-day State-level Seminar on ‘Green Chemistry for Sustainable Future’ at the College auditorium on Mar. 4.
The Seminar will be inaugurated by Prof. Syed Akheel Ahmed, former Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Mysore and Vice-Chancellor, Yenepoya University, at 9.30 am. He will also deliver the keynote address.
In the first session from 11.15 am to 12.15 pm, Dr. A.S. Prakash, Senior Scientist, CECRI, Chennai, will deliver a talk on ‘Cleaner and Greener technologies for energy storage.’
This will be followed by a talk on ‘Green Chemistry for the synthesis of Nanomatearials’ by Dr. Dattatri K. Nagesh, Head of Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS University, Mysuru, from 12.15 pm to 1.15 pm.
Post-lunch, the third session will be held from 2 pm to 3 pm with the same speaker talking on the subject ‘Biomedical applications of Green Chemistry.’
The final session of the day will be held from 3 pm to 4 pm by Dr. A.S. Prakash delivering a talk on ‘Sodium Ion batteries for efficient energy storage.’
Poster presentation will be held between 10 to 3.30 pm.
Valedictory of the Seminar will be held at 4.15 pm.
The expected participants comprise UG & PG students of Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry, Research Scholars, Teaching faculty of both UG & PG from all over Karnataka.
