Mysuru: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, had organised a two-day Student Development Programme (SDP) on ‘Social Network Analysis – Data Sciences Perspective’ recently.
The SDP was formally inaugurated by Principal Dr. G. Ravi and resource person Prof. Sudarshan Iyengar, IIT Ropar (Punjab).
Dr. G. Raghavendra Rao, guest of honour, opined that Data Science being an upcoming and hot field of computing, training of this kind will benefit students to compete on par with the students of other premiere institutes.
The course focused on hands-on aspects apart from the fundamentals of Data Sciences starting from how Google works to how one can solve India-centric problems. The course covered the practical aspects of computing with special emphasis to real world situations. The students were given team activities to understand the fundamentals of Google search engine based on page rank algorithm.
Dr. T.N. Shridhar, CoE, Dr. H.D. Phaneendra, HoD, CSE, Dr. B.N. Yuvaraju, TEQIP-III Coordinator were present.
B.S. Jayasri, Associate Professor, CSE, compered. K.S. Rekha and B.S. Prathibha, coordinated the programme.
